Best Men's Ski Goggles

The right ski gear can make a significant impact on your performance. The snow goggles are the most critical piece of equipment that you have. They protect your eyes, keep your face warm, and can keep you looking stylish.

That’s why it’s worth spending a bit more on them. At MessyWeekend, we’ve come up with a range of goggles that will keep your eyes safe and look good at the same time. And, better yet, they’re surprisingly affordable.

How to Choose the Best Men’s Ski Goggles

Want to know how to pick the perfect pair? Here are some tips to get you started.

The Lens Shape

The lens can be spherical or flat. The differentiation can be confusing as many people think that "spherical" means curved. Here's what it means:

  • Flat: These are also known as cylindrical. These lenses curve around the horizontal contours of your face. They do a good job but may impact your peripheral vision slightly. Flat lenses are somewhat less expensive.
  • Spherical: These lenses curve both horizontally and vertically and are better at reducing glare and distortion. Spherical lenses don't impact your peripheral vision much.

Ventilation

The downside of wearing goggles is that they can fog up when your body heat warms up one side of the lens, and the cold air hits the other. Here is what to look for in to minimise the fogging effect:

  • Double-layered lenses: These goggles have two lenses, separated by a small buffer zone of air in between. We completely seal this area so that no moisture can get in. This dual-layer system prevents the warm air from getting into contact with the outer lens.
  • Anti-fog coating: Another option is for the brand to apply an anti-fog layer to the lens.
  • Vents: Vents in the googles let some cold air in, and this can reduce the amount of fogging.

Lens Colour and Visible Light Transmission (VLT)

The colour of the lens plays a significant role in how well you see. The different colours combat glare or low-light conditions so that you can see clearly. VLT speaks to how much light makes it through to your eyes.

Lighter tints have a better VLT because they let more light through. So, on a cloudy, dull day, reach for:

  • Gold
  • Yellow
  • Amber
  • Rose
  • Green

Darker tints are better for bright sunny days where there's a lot of glare. On a gorgeous day, reach for:

  • Gray
  • Brown
  • Copper
  • Dark Blue

The only time you should wear clear lenses is at night or in low-light conditions.

Essential Extras for Your Lenses

UV Protection

Look for models that offer 100 percent protection from UVA and UVB radiation.

Polarisation

Polarising lenses are not essential if you have an excellent lens light filter in place. Still, they're excellent for reducing overall glare.

Photochromatic

This coating is another nice feature to have. Why? The lenses change tint levels to match the lighting outside. In darker areas, they lighten up. In the sunshine, they darken up.

Mirrored

In this case, the lens coating is on the outside. This mirroring is a reflective coating. It reduces the amount of light coming through significantly by bouncing it off.

Interchangeable

Choosing a pair with interchangeable lenses gives you maximum versatility. Find options that are simple to change in the field.

The Fit

Getting the fit right is essential. You're likely to be wearing these goggles for hours at a time, so make sure they're comfortable. They should fit snugly so that no light can penetrate through any gaps.

Modern manufacturers use thermoplastic or polyurethane because they're durable and flexible. Thermoplastic is the more flexible of the two and so holds up better in the cold.

Small Things that Matter

  • If you’re going skiing wearing a beanie, you can wear any goggles that you like. If you’re wearing a helmet, though, you should ensure that the goggles won’t get in the way.
  • Can you adjust the strap? That may seem like a strange question, but it's essential. Is there one buckle or two? How easy is it to adjust the strap?
  • The padding inside must be of excellent quality and plush to help make the glasses more comfortable. The padding also helps to lift the lens away from the face, which reduces fogging.

Now that you know what to look for, let's have a look at what we've got for you.

Men’s Ski Goggles Sale

At the moment, we’ve kept things simple. We have several new models in the research stage, but we won’t release those until we’re sure they’re perfect. So, for now, we’ve stuck to our XE-One range.

This range is good-looking, high quality, affordable, and efficient. We make the lenses from dual-layer polycarbonate from one of Italy's leading manufacturers. They offer UV400 protection. The frame is thermoplastic, so you get a great fit.

XE-One Black

The minimalist design features Revo-Mirror Lenses with Photochromic, dual-layered lenses. The lenses are UV400- rated and offer complete protection against UVA and UVB radiation. We make the lenses from polycarbonate from one of the top producers in Italy.

The polycarbonate is strong and durable, but also has a little bit of flex. The dual-layered lenses and anti-fog coating mean that it won't fog up easily. But we're a bit obsessive about quality, so we added in six vents as well for good measure.

Choose a lens colour of:

  • Blue
  • Green
  • Red
  • Silver

All of our lenses are interchangeable. We provide a free yellow lens for low-light conditions as well. It clips in and out quickly and easily.

The frame is stylish in black and is thin and durable. The strap at the back is durable and water-resistant. It will last for many years. Finally, you get a hard-backed case to protect your new goggles.

With every pair you buy, you're helping to clear the ocean of 2 kilograms of plastic. That makes these perfect for the eco-warrior.

If you can’t decide between the different colours available, then why not pick up extra lenses in different shades? The lenses cost less than $50 each and come in a protective bag.

Best Men’s Ski Goggles

We started MessyWeekend for a simple reason. As two young guys who love skiing and the outdoors, we’re relatively hard on ski goggles and sunglasses. As you can imagine, it cost us a fortune to replace our googles.

We were fed up with how expensive good options were. As a result, we decided to look into how much it cost to produce men’s ski goggles. We thought that a trip to Asia was in order. Once in Asia, we met with several manufacturers.

The results were shocking. Your primary manufacturing cost with top-rated men's ski goggles are the materials themselves. But even factoring those costs in, it soon became apparent that you could create the best for a lot less.

And, that's how MessyWeekends came about. We're a young, vibrant firm based in Copenhagen, and we're here to make a difference. We sell the men's ski goggles at a reasonable price. And, for every pair that you buy, you're helping remove two kilograms of plastic from the ocean.

How Does Your Purchase Help to Keep the Ocean Clean?

We've partnered up with an NGO called Proartso. Together we're running the Columbian Pacific clean-up project called Origines. For every pair you buy, we donate enough money to ensure that Origines removes 2 kg of plastic waste from the ocean.
