In 2018, we started MESSYWEEKEND™ for a very simple reason.
After studying the eyewear industry for months, we found that most of the brands we knew, optician chains and factories, were all owned by the same company. An Italian company that controls more than 70% of the eyewear industry.
It also became clear to us that there was a huge mismatch between the cost price of the glasses and the price they were sold for to the consumer. We wanted to change that and that is why MESSYWEEKEND™ was created.
MESSYWEEKEND's core belief is that the highest quality luxury eyeglass frames, sunglasses and sports eyewear should also be available at the very best prices. That is our core, and we do not compromise.

We use the strongest hinges to ensure the temples remain rigid. We use the best lenses to ensure full UV400 A+B protection and optimal optical clarity - and our sports glasses even feature our proprietary high-contrast lens technology.
Our acetate glasses are handmade, and we design everything ourselves in our office in the heart of Copenhagen.

Since its humble beginnings in an attic on Købmagergade in Copenhagen, the brand has grown.
We have always had a dream of challenging the biggest players in the world, and we have put a lot of effort into establishing ourselves globally.
Today, MESSYWEEKEND™ is present in more than 35 markets worldwide. From Denmark to Vietnam, Paris to New York, from fashion boutiques to online shops. We are in more than 1000 retailers worldwide, including some of the most iconic stores you can find: Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Illum, Magasin du Nord, Intersport and others.
We operate our own online shops in six different countries in local languages, and our websites have more than 19 million visitors every year. We also operate two of our own stores in Lyngby and in Georgia – and will soon open the next ones. And we are only just getting started.
Our ambition is to become the largest affordable luxury eyewear brand in the world. We want to be the Ray-Ban of our generation; a brand that is not only ours, but our grandchildren's as well.
Great ambitions do not come without obligations, and we have always been aware that we cannot take without giving.
That's why our Clean Oceans program has been with us from the beginning - even during the many years when we didn't earn a penny.
Since 2018 and to this day, every purchase of a MESSYWEEKEND product - from a retailer or from us - has contributed to the collection of plastic from the world's oceans.
Today, this is done through an NGO that uses local labor to collect plastic from nature. Our community has removed more than 260 tons of plastic to date, and the number continues to grow.
That, perhaps more than anything else, is what we are incredibly proud of.
It's been a long journey so far. It's been expensive (just ask our investors), and it's required blood, sweat, and tears.
It takes time to create a global eyewear brand in a traditional industry dominated by many capital-intensive players.
